宮島といえば杓子が有名なのはいうまでもありません。
杓子に関わらず物を購入する時、産地や製造元がどこであるか重要なポイントです。
パッケージはその土地のものであっても、裏の記載事項を見てがっかりした経験もあります。
その土地で長く作られたものは、見るだけでなんちゃって商品とは違います。
しかし、安価なものが好まれる現実もあり作り手は厳しい立場に追いやられがちです。
宮島杓子はすべて機械で作るのではなく、職人の手が加わって出来ています。
それを考えると、価格が多少違うのも仕方ない所ではあります。
本当に宮島で作られている事を、多くの方に知っていただきたいです。
今後はなんちゃって商品が横行しないよう作り手側も努力していかなければなりません。
産地ブランドとして一定基準を持つ必要もあると思います。
今回は木から杓子が出来るまでの一部を紹介します。
（注：ある製造者の一例）
木に杓子の型をとります。
手作業で型を抜きます。
機械で杓子の側面をキレイにします。
これ以降は職人の神業的技術と長年の勘で表面にアールがつき使いやすい杓子になります。
職人の仕上げ部分はまた次の機会に紹介します。企業秘密？？？
これはあくまでも一般的な7寸杓子の場合で、変形杓子や大型になれば手作業が増えます。
こうしていろいろな、工程を経てできあがるのです。
